AFCA Legacy Complaints - Final Hurdle Cleared
ASIC has today announced its approval of changes to AFCA rules to allow it to hear financial misconduct complaints dating back to 1 January 2008.
This is the final regulatory hurdle required to implement what was a key recommendation of the Financial Services Royal Commission.
This allows complaintants to bring a complaint about conduct as far back as 1 January 2008, which would otherwise be time-limited to six years.
There will be a one-year window to lodge these legacy complaints – 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
Look out for more information from us about this over the coming weeks.
